Lesson Plans
Over the course of my studies, I had many opportunities to plan and execute various lesson plans constituting of the 6 learning areas under the Nurturing Early Learners (NEL) framework for children from 18 months to 6 years old.
10 day integrated curriculum unit learning plan
for a class of 15 Nursery 2 children (N2, 3-4 years old) under the topic: Fruits
In a group of 4, we:
- Applied knowledge of Curriculum Planning & Implementation
- Came up with 10 developmentally appropriate and sequential indoor and outdoor activities according to the 4 phases of the learning cycle: Awareness, Exploration, Acquisition, Application
- Incorporated the 6 learning areas under the NEL framework in our activities planned (a mix of large, small group and individual activities)
What I learnt:
- Planning of integrated and meaningful learning experiences using the iTeach principles
- Different teacher facilitation techniques (i.e. demonstrating, questioning, telling and instructing)

differentiated learning plan
for a class of 15 N2 children under the topic: Dinosaurs in the Animal Kingdom!

To accommodate children's different learning styles, toy dinosaurs are provided for hands-on learners while picture cards are provided for visual learners. All children will achieve the same objective through different means (matching numerals to the set of dinosaurs with concrete/pictorial objects).

Picture guides with word instructions are provided so that visual learners can understand the instructions better while others can recap the instructions during the activity.

The objective of this activity is for the focus child to match numerals 6-10 to a quantity of a set of dinosaurs on picture cards (within 10).

All children will achieve the same objective through different means (matching numerals to the set of dinosaurs with concrete/pictorial objects).
Objective of the activity:
Children will be able to match numerals 6-10 to a quantity of a set of toy dinosaurs (within 10).

In a group of 4, we:
- Applied knowledge of Working with the Exceptional Child to come up with a Numeracy differentiated learning plan and a take-home activity for a focus child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Created 3 teaching resources in line with the focus child's interests and abilities to support his learning
What I learnt:
- Various childhood disorders (i.e. diagnosis, support, treatments)
- Applying the 3 principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL: engagement, representation, and action and expression) in differentiated lesson plans
- Creating differentiated instructions to cater to a diverse range of children (i.e. children with slower learning abilities, children with various learning styles)
MAKE IT FLOAT!
Learning plan for a class of 20 Kindergarten 1 children (K1, 4-5 years old)
In a group of 3, we:
- Applied knowledge of Social Emotional Learning to create a small group learning experience to build up children's social emotional competency: Self management in the value of Resilience
- Aligned the learning experience to one of the 6 learning dispositions (PRAISE): Inventiveness
- Came up with appropriate and easy to understand prompts and open ended questions for teacher facilitation
What I learnt:
- How to nurture and support positive socioemotional skills in children (i.e. teaching children to regulate their emotions, form relationships with their peers)
- Modelling pro-social behaviour and instilling good values in children in their early years
- Effective communication and collaborative working with others to create a role play video of the learning experience on Microsoft Teams due to the circuit breaker

What I learnt:
- Creating meaningful and relevant experiences for children by relating our activity in the classroom to children’s daily lives
- Incorporating elements of fun into learning

field trip plan
for a class of 15 N2 children @ FairPrice Xtra at JEM
In a group of 4, we:
- Applied knowledge of Discovery of the World to plan a pre-field trip activity, an on-site activity, a post-filed trip activity and proposed a benefit-risk assessment for the on-site activity
- Conducted extensive research on the selected venue online
What I learnt:
- Asking age-appropriate questions to scaffold children's learning
- Incorporating different types of process skills in planning activities (i.e. observing, predicting, communicating)
